It’s not often that you’ll see a company’s General Manager making a change by climbing a real ladder rather than the proverbial corporate ladder. But that’s exactly what happened when our GM, John Sturdy, and one of our senior consultants, Graeme Gordon, took it upon themselves to improve the lighting at our head office. Systematically replacing older globes with more efficient and environmentally friendly varieties, they improved the working conditions of their colleagues, while making a small step forward for the environment.
At Wallage Executive, we know that our individual and collective actions affect, and are affected by, the community around us. So for many years, we have built corporate responsibility into our daily processes and actions. In a recruitment company, opportunities to create a more sustainable operation exist in terms of recycling, reducing waste, moving towards a more electronic and less paper driven business to name a few. Our latest investment in recruitment software will allow us to significantly reduce our use of paper products.
Our approach to business in general also reflects this approach to corporate responsibility. We are a values driven organisation: We afford you, as a client or a candidate, the respect you expect and deserve. In our business dealings, we seek true partnerships rather than transactional and opportunistic business. This stems from our fundamental belief that a service culture makes good business sense and results in improved satisfaction for all stakeholders – clients, candidates, consultants and managers alike. Our approach to business is driven from the top by our Director and Senior Managers, and understood and embraced by all our staff.
We extend these values to our dealings in the broader community. Many of our managers and consultants give their time freely to ‘give back’ to the community. Corporate and individual examples include:
-
» Support of ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’, which raises money for cancer research
- » Mentoring future business leaders through university programs
- » Kalkadoon Community native title organisation
